Dangerous questions: Why is academic freedom important?

13. June 2018
Location: at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana

Is it too dangerous to ask certain questions? What happens to academics and students who dare to ask dangerous questions? How can you contribute to the strengthening of the values of universities and academic freedom? All these questions will be discussed during a special event to be held on 13th June 2018 at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana.

The event has been organised as part of the project Academic Refugee, which aims to improve the integration of migrant students and threatened academics in European universities. The project also promotes academic freedom, academic values and autonomy.

Together with students who have first-hand migration experience, threatened academics and other speakers coming from the wider European region we will discuss the role of universities, non-governmental organisations and governmental organisations in tackling the issues of academic freedom and integration of migrants and threatened academics in universities.

You can find more information about the event in the attached invitation and in the event agenda. Please register for the event by 14th May 2018 (you can find the registration form here). For additional information please contact Dr. Andreja Vezovnik: andreja.vezovnik@fdv.uni-lj.si.
