Radovan Stanislav Pejovnik, Rector of the University of Ljubljana
He graduated at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology (UL FCCT), University of Ljubljana in 1970, received his master’s degree in 1975 and obtained doctoral degree in 1978. From 1982 to 1999 he was Director of the National Institute of Chemistry, and from 2000 until 2003 served as a State Secretary for higher education at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. He started his academic career as an Assistant Professor of Inorganic Chemical Technology in 1978, and since 1989 he has been Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the UL FCCT. From 2005 to 2009 he was the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology. He authored many papers in recognized international scientific journals and delivered a large number of invited lectures at conferences and universities. He visited different laboratories in various European countries, USA and Japan. He served as a session chairman at conferences on sintering, materials research, stereology and battery research worldwde. He is co-chairman of the International Association FORUM Bled and main organizer of the International Conference FORUM Bled devoted to science policies and scientific cooperation and technological cooperation and technology transfer. He authored or co-authored more than 200 refereed publications in journals and proceedings and was co-editor of six proceedings. In September 2009 he was elected Rector of the University of Ljubljana and started his office on October 1, 2010.
