Prof. Dr. Julijana Kristl, Vice-Rector
Julijana Kristl graduated from the University Ljubljana in 1977, obtained her master’s degree in 1981, and doctoral degree in 1988. After graduation she got a position at the University of Ljubljana and during her thirty-year long academic carrier she has performed numerous scientific, pedagogical, and management tasks. For two mandates she acted as Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, where she is currently teaching pharmaceutical technology and cosmetology for graduate and postgraduate students. Her research focus is on modern drug delivery systems, nanotechnology, and biomaterials. Other professional positions include: Member of the Expert Council for Science and Technology of the Republic of Slovenia till 2005, member of the Health Council, the Slovenian Pharmaceutical Society, the Slovenian Biophysical Society, President of the Society of Experts for Controlled Release of Bioactive Compounds and member of many important international organizations – Controlled Release Society, USA; Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, London, UK; Association de pharmacie galénique industrielle, Paris, France; member of the Editorial board of the Journal of Drug Delivery Science and Technology. She acts as a reviewer in ten international scientific journals with impact factor ranking.
In 1993 and 2004 she was awarded the Minarik Prize for her merits in the development of Slovenian pharmacy and her ambitious work in the Slovenian Pharmaceutical Society. She acted as Vice-rector of the University of Ljubljana from 2005 – 2009 and was again appointed in 2009.
