Application procedure

Admission applications
There are three admission application periods for enroling into the University of Ljubljana. Information on the application and enrolment procedure, enrolment requirements, criteria for selection and the study programmes offered by the University of Ljubljana can be found in the annual Call for Enrolment, which is published at the end of January for the upcoming academic year.

Enrolement procedures vary depending on the following status of applicants:


Citizens of European Union Member States

  • apply for the enrolment places for Slovenian citizens published in the Call for Slovenian Enrolment (www.vpis.uni-lj.si),
  • submit the first application from 1 February to 8 March
  • submit the second application from 20 August to 30 August
  • submit the third application from 1 to 4 October


Candidates who have already completed secondary school should submit the following required evidence to the Higher Education Application-Information Service together with the first, second or third application:

  • notarised copy of the final certificate of a four-year secondary school (within 5 days of receiving the certifi cate or by 1 September at the latest if they will conclude secondary school this year, and for the third application period)
  • notarised transcripts for the last two years of completed secondary school, decision on the recognition of foreign
  • decision on the recognition of foreign certificates or decision on nostrificated decision
  • identification document
  • certificate of knowledge of the Slovenian language (if enrolling in study programmes of the Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT), journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences (FDV) and the Slovenian language programme at the Faculty of Arts (FF)) 

If accepted in the first application period, candidates will receive the results of the selection procedure by 23 July; if accepted i n the second application period, they will receive the results by 24 September. Candidates can enrol in the first year of study from 25 July to 18 August if accepted in the first application period, from 25 to 30 September if accepted in the second application period and until 10 October for the third application period.

Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship and foreign citizens from countries that are not European Union Member States

  • apply for enrolment places for foreign citizens published in the Call for Enrolment (in the table: Enrolment Places for Foreign Citizens and Slovenians without Slovenian Citizenship at the University of Ljubljana;
  • submit their application from 1 February to 15 August. Candidates desiring to enrol in study programmes requiring tests of artistic ability and psychophysical capacity must send in their application form by 8 March. Candidates, fulfilling the entrance requirements, may enrol in the remaining free enrolment places at higher education institutions from 1 to 4 October;
  • must send the Higher Education Application-Information Service of the University of Ljubljana required evidence:

    (notarised final certificate of the four-year secondary school, notarised transcripts for the last two years of completed secondary school, decision on the recognition of foreign certifi cates or decision on nostrification, identification document, certificate of knowledge of the Slovenian language (if enrolling in study programmes of the Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT), journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences (FDV) and the Slovenian language programme at the Faculty of Arts (FF).
  1. Together with the application if the candidate has already finished secondary school; by 1 September if the candidate will finish secondary school this year.

  2. Candidates will receive the decision on the results of the selection procedure by 15 September at the latest. They may enrol until 30 September.

Foreign citizens who have concluded secondary school in Slovenia

 

The procedure described under the heading Foreign Citizens from European Union Member States also applies for foreign citizens from European Union Member States who have concluded secondary education in Slovenia.

Candidates who have finished secondary school in Slovenia are not required to go through the procedure for recognising secondary school certificates. For foreign citizens of countries that are not European Union Member States who have finished secondary school in Slovenia, the procedure described under the heading. Foreign Citizens from non-European Union. Member States applies and also in this case, these candidates who have fi nished secondary school in Slovenia are not required to go through the procedure for recognizing secondary school certificates.

Foreign citizens with permanent residence in Slovenia who are themselves or their parents/guardians liable for tax in Slovenia who have completed secondary school abroad:

 

         -  apply for places offered to citizens of Slovenia, which are published in the Call for Enrolment;

- submit their initial application from February to 8 March, second application  from 2 August to 1 September

-   and third application from 2 to 5 October the Higher Education Application-Information Service of the University of Ljubljana required evidence (notarized final certificate of the four-year secondary school, notarised transcripts for the last two years of completed secondary school, decision on the recognition of foreign cerificates or  decision on nostrafication

1. together with the first, second or third application if the candidate has already finished secondary school;

2. within 5 days of receiving the certificate or by 1 September at the latest if the candidate will finish secondary school this year; and within the third application deadline, together with the application.

Candidates will receive the decision on the results of the selection procedure by 25 July for the first application period and 25 July  by 24 September for the second application period. All candidates accepted in the first application period may enrol from 25 July to 8 August. Those accepted in the second period may enrol between 26 and 2 September and those in the third deadline, until 10 October.

Foreign citizens who have concluded secondary school in Slovenia

 

The procedure described under the heading Foreign Citizens from European UnionMember Stateswho have concluded secondary educationin Slovenia.Candidates who have finished secondaryschool in Slovenia are not required to gothrough the procedure for recognising secondaryschool certificates.For foreign citizens of countries that are notEuropean Union Member States who havefinished secondary school in Slovenia, theprocedure described under the headingForeign Citizens from non-European UnionMember States applies and also in this case, these candidates who have finished secondary school in Slovenia are not required to go through the procedure for recognizing secondary school certificates.
