Study programme

ECTS credit points can be obtained for the first or the second cycle of the study programme.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in the first or the second cycle of a study programme of the University of Ljubljana. Requirement for taking the exam is 75% attendance of the course.

Methods of work

  • Lectures: 10 hrs.
  • Tutorial: 50 hrs.
  • Individual work: 30 hrs.

Assessment

The exam is scored from 110 in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana. Theoretical (50%) and practical (50%) exam.

Equipment

Sports clothes, towel, bottle of water.

Content of ECTS sports subject

Theoretical content relating to: the doctrine of yoga and other forms of release (forms, historical perspective and the development; philosophy of yoga, creative visualization, autogenous training and other modern forms of release); physiological process in the body (the effects of asanas, pranayama, meditation, visualization, etc.), psychological aspects of the release; motor coordination information in yoga.

Contents of exercises relate to the proper execution of basic and special exercises in this area and to the experiential and spiritual component of spreading awareness (the system of yoga in daily life, meditation, self-analysis, therapeutic effects, awareness of body, spirit and soul, imagination, visualization).

Objectives and competences

  • To provide students with a basic program in the field of yoga exercise and relaxation that they could use the knowledge of body and soul to enrich everyday life;
  • Mastery of the basic elements of yoga and placement of knowledge and skills in a modern way of life 

Intended learning outcomes

Eastern philosophy and exercise skills transferred to the western way of life;

Using the acquired knowledge in everyday life and to compensate for the negative effects of stress during study;

Finding new friends, quality of life, building permanent lifestyle habits.

Critical analysis of movement, reflection on the literature and teamwork.
