Study programme

ECTS credit points can be obtained for the first or the second cycle of the study programme.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in the first or the second cycle of a study programme of the University of Ljubljana. Requirement for taking the exam is 75% attendance of the course.

Methods of work

  • Lectures: 10 hrs.
  • Tutorial: 50 hrs.
  • Individual work: 30 hrs.

Assessment

The exam is scored from 110 in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana. Theoretical (50%) and practical (50%) exam.

Equipment

Sports clothes and clean sport shoes, bottle of water.

Content of ECTS sports subject

Theoretical contents include basic concepts in dance, historical development and placement of different dance genres in culture; theoretical content is presented in a condensed form at practical exercises, which include different modern dance disciplines such as hip hop, break dance, disco, salsa, argentine tango etc.; we learn basic dance figures and their connections to choreography.

Objectives and competences

  • Raising awareness of values of dance through its influence on positive attitudes to culture, sport and getting used to a healthy lifestyle
  • Eliminating and preventing the consequences of a lack of exercise; improve mental and physical fitness, health promotion; enable the companionship and socialization and creative use of leisure time
  • Master the fundamental elements of modern competitive dance (hip hop, break dance, disco, salsa, argentine tango, etc.) and the acquisition of specific knowledge to the extent that they can compete or perform
  • Preservation and development of cultural traditions, the acquisition of attitudes towards dance as a sport

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding of basic movement individually, in a couple or in groups;

Use the acquired knowledge in everyday life in order to compensate for the negative effects of stress during study;

Making new friends, socialization, ensuring quality of life, building permanent lifestyle habits;

Critical analysis, work in groups, education, competitive spirit
