Study programme

ECTS credit points can be obtained for the first or the second cycle of the study programme.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in the first or the second cycle of a study programme of the University of Ljubljana. Requirement for taking the exam is 75% attendance of the course.

Methods of work

  • Lectures: 5 hrs.
  • Tutorial: 55 hrs.
  • Individual work: 30 hrs.

Assessment

The exam is scored from 110 in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana.  Theoretical (50%) and practical (50%) exam.

Equipment

Sports clothes and clean sports shoes, towel, bottle of water.

  • teaching methods of handball
  • organisational methods and types of practising
  • basic technical and tactical elements of handball
  • positions and different forms of movements
  • bouncing the ball
  • catching and passing the ball
  • shooting at the goal
  • detection
  • cover and monitor the attacker
  • stopping and tackling attacker with body and hands
  • blocking shots
  • stealing the ball
  • goalkeeping techniques
  • elementary games and games with adjusted rules, suitable for introducing children into handball game
  • mini handball
  • basics of handball with individual defence:
  • From game 1vs1 to game 6vs6 with numerical balance on the whole court and on the half of the court
  • Game with a numerical superiority of attackers – 2vs1, 3vs2, 4vs3, 5vs4, 6vs5 on the whole court and on the half of the court
  • basics of handball with set zone defence 6:0

Objectives and competences

  • Educate students about the rules of the handball game, refereeing signals and the use of them in practice
  • Educate students about teaching methods and exercises for younger age groups
  • Educate students about the structure of the handball game
  • Educate students about the basic individual, group and team technical-tactical elements of handball game which players need to master for efficient play in defence and attack
  • Educate students about Mini handball
  • Educate students about the role of handball goalkeeper and the specifics of training process within the team

Intended learning outcomes

Student can correctly demonstrate chosen  technical-tactical elements of Handball;

Student understand and can apply modern working methods in practice and understand the differences in working with children of various ages and adults;

Student can adapt work to different material and other conditions of working environment;

Student knows to evaluate psychophysics potential of the child for preoccupation with handball; He/she knows how to build and to encouraging an ethical attitude towards handball and sport generally;

Transferable/Key Skills and other attributes: student monitors development and progress of sports discipline and uses modern working methods and current literature
