At the end of December 2016 the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana finalized another major improvement among its many successful endeavours: a modern entrance and a renovated lobby with an atrium.

Developments and successes of individual members of the University of Ljubljana are also success stories of the University as a whole, especially if they are the fruit of cooperation between its Members, as with this collaboration of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture. The first ideas surrounding the renovation of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering arose within a student project. The renovation envisaged a modern entrance with covered wheelchair access, a new reception, a space for a bookshop and a covered atrium. The Faculty now has new and bright spaces intended for students’ creative socialisation which will undoubtedly become the active centre of the Faculty. The renovation took place from July to December 2016 and raises the energy efficiency of the entire building while opening the lobby to more natural light. The funds for the renovation came from the Faculty's budget.

The renovated spaces were officially opened by the Chancellor of the University of Ljubljana Prof. Dr. Ivan Svetlik and the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana Prof. Dr. Igor Papič.
