There are only a few days left before the traditional Freshmen Welcome event at the University of Ljubljana, which will open the 2017/2018 academic year and allow freshmen to rise to new challenges in their studies. On Monday, 2 October 2017, you will experience an afternoon full of fun, music and dancing, starting at 4 p.m. at the largest square in Ljubljana.

Lively happenings on the stage will be provided by Artifex, Nipke, Cubana Ljubljana, AFS France Marolt, Nika Zorjan, BQL and the Girls’ Choir of the Faculty of Education at the University of Ljubljana.

Between 4 and 8 p.m., University of Ljubljana Members will give insightful presentations of their study programmes and extracurricular activities at their respective stands. Cultural organisations will also be onsite giving away free tickets to students for their shows and exhibitions. The number of tickets is limited, so hurry up and get yours.

We will again have the pleasure of hosting AIESEC, in which young people gain leadership skills through practice and exchange, thus changing the world. The organisation will prepare a special prize competition in which it will give six lucky winners the opportunity to do an AIESEC experience abroad.

The opening ceremony of the 2017/2018 academic year, starting at 5 p.m., will begin with speeches by the Chairman of the Governing Board of the University of Ljubljana Prof. Dr. Borut Božič, Chairman of the Student Council of the University of Ljubljana Matej Drobnič, Mayor of Ljubljana City Municipality Zoran Janković and the new University of Ljubljana Rector Prof. Dr. Igor Papič. Naturally, the Deans of all 23 faculties and 3 academies of the University of Ljubljana will be present as well.

The event is expected to conclude at 8 p.m. with a concert given by the Xequtifz band, after which the event will move to the Student Campus, where a welcome party will be held.
