The main objectives of the programme are:
The main objective of the joint master’s degree programme Creole - Cultural Differences and Transnational Processes is to provide advanced knowledge in the broad field of social and cultural anthropology and ethnology. The main advantage of the joint degree programme is the synergy of the expertise of the professors and staff of the seven departments, which goes far beyond the expertise of the individual department. The elective courses at the partner departments complement each other (both regionally and thematically), as they originate in different historical development of departments. By choosing modules, lectures and mentors, individual students can acquire additional knowledge that they would otherwise not be able to acquire at a single institution.
Programme structure:
The joint study programme offers the opportunity to study in at least two partner institutions. Within the study programme, student mobility can take place in several ways. The minimum mobility required by the programme is a two-semester study exchange at at least one of the partner institutions. There are two options for student mobility: Study abroad in the second and third semesters or in the third and fourth semesters. Students complete the first semester at the home institution. The fourth semester is usually devoted to intensive work on the master's thesis (research, data analysis, writting). The Creole programme has a pronounced research emphasis: students determine their research focus and prepare a disposition for the Master's thesis in the first year of study. They present their research during the Intensive Programme, which takes place in a form of a one-week summer school organised by one of the partner universities. The Intensive Programme is also an opportunity for the students to meet their colleagues and professors from all seven universities.
