About the Administrative Board of the University of Ljubljana and its duties

The Managing Board is an administrative body that primarily decides on economic matters and ensures the smooth material operations of the university.
The Managing Board has a classification committee and may set up other committees and working bodies as required. The Board consists of nine members, as follows:

  1. three representatives of employees performing higher education activities (teachers, researchers and associates),
  2. one representative of other employees working at the university,
  3. one representative of the students,
  4. one representative of the employers,
  5. three representatives of the Founder.

The Rector and Vice-Rectors may not be elected to the university’s Managing Board.
The term of office for Managing Board members is four years, and two years for the student representative.
The Managing Board:

  1. adopts the University Statutes together with the Senate,
  2. adopts general acts that govern the management of the university, its material operations and employment relationships,
  3. adopts, with prior assent from the University Senate, the annual work programme and the programme of university development, and monitors their implementation,
  4. adopts the financial plan, the annual report and the business report,
  5. adopts criteria for the distribution of assets acquired from public and other funds and the criteria for allotting the expenditure incurred by performing public services and other activities,
  6. decides on matters of economic and material nature and ensures the smooth operation of the university,
  7. gives prior assent on admitting a new member to the university,
  8. submits proposals and opinions on specific issues to the Founder and the Rector,
  9. adopts the basic framework for job classification,
  10. adopts, upon the proposal of the university members, decisions on tuition fees and study contributions,
  11. adopts decisions on managing the university’s assets,
  12. adopts the rules of procedure for its operation,
  13. adopts other decisions relating to the management of the university.
