prof. dr. Matjaž Krajnc.jpgAfter graduating in 1993, Prof. Dr. Matjaž Krajnc was employed as a young researcher at the Institute of Chemistry and in 1997 he was a doctoral student at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the University of Ljubljana.

After completing his doctorate, he was employed for two years at Helios, d. d., as the leader of development projects. Since 1999, he has been active at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the University of Ljubljana. In 2000, he was elected to the title of assistant professor, in 2005 as associate professor and in 2010 as a full professor in the field of chemical engineering. In 2000, he attended Oregon State University (USA) as a scholarship holder at the American Chemical Society, and in 2009, as a visiting professor at the University of Zagreb, where he lectured on Analysis and Modelling of environmental processes.

For twelve years, he was the Head of the Department of Polymer Engineering and Organic Chemical Technology (2001-2013), and the Head of Chemical Technology Department (2003-2009). He was also the Vice-dean at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology at the University of Ljubljana (2003-2013), and, from 2013 to 2017, he was Dean of the faculty.

As a researcher, he works in the field of chemical reaction engineering and research in the field of advanced polymer materials. He is the author or co-author of more than seventy papers in international scientific journals. He was a mentor to eight doctorates, eight scientific master’s papers and about hundred graduate works.

For the term from 1st October 2017 to 30th September 2021, he was elected vice-rector of the University of Ljubljana for the field of scientific and research work.
