The core task of the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Ljubljana is educating students of veterinary medicine at all levels of higher education in a quality manner comparable to the similar studies in Europe. In compliance with the law on higher education and the law on veterinary medicine and by following scientific and expert developments, the Veterinary Faculty has been ensuring for more than 50 years that its graduate and postgraduate students are currently informed on the state-of-the-art scientific findings and expert achievements of veterinary medicine in Slovenia and abroad. The activities of the Veterinary Faculty are aimed at educational, scientific research and expert practical work. Scientific research lays the foundations for the quality work of teachers and assistants, and therefore the Veterinary Faculty ensures that such work is performed at the highest level in co-operation with domestic and foreign established and quality research institutions. The expert practical work performed mainly at the National Veterinary Institute offers students the possibility of additional practical training during their studies. The goal of the Veterinary Faculty is to offer students and the society established and verified educational and research programmes and customers reliable results, which has been confirmed by the accreditation obtained in accordance with ISO 17025. In 2011, the Veterinary Faculty obtained for the second time a positive opinion on its teaching by the European Committee of Veterinary Education (ECOVE), giving the school international reputation and recognition.
