Project Proposal
Title: Development apparatus-methodical maintenance for microwave remote sensing of atmosphere
Type Details: The aim of the project is development and creation of the radiometer/radar measuring system intended for remotely sensing clouds and precipitation. The available active and passive meteorological systems have demonstrated possibilities of determining such atmosphere parameters as vapour water and liquid water contents, the temperature profile and others. The results of the previous investigations of the authors project and analysis of numerous publications point to the advisability of combining of the passive and active methods of remote sensing, extending their frequency band and employing the regime of polarization measurements. Acceptance of this approach for solving the most topical and widespread problems of the modern meteorology and climatology will provide an increase in accuracy and extension of capabilities of available measuring systems and methods of remote sensing. The creation and usage of the unique meteorological measuring system for observation of the atmosphere by simultaneous microwave radars and many-frequency millimetres waves radiometers will be the main result of this project. Polarizing measurement for 3mm-wave channels will be realized with the aim to improve the reliability of measurement results. The availability of the proposed system will allows us to carry out long-term programs of atmosphere investigations directed toward solving meteorology, climatology and general physical problems. In particularly, it will be possible to investigate correlation between a fine structure of radar and radiometer signal parameters on the one hand and the processes of cloud creation on the other hand.
Besides, creation such measuring system and software provision can underlie a fixed ground point of monitoring of radio physical atmosphere parameters which can be used for the ground attendant measurements.
