Title: Utilization of solar energy converting sunlight into laser radiation

Type Details: At the present time there is no doubt that in nearest future the solar pumped lasers will become one of the main techniques of the use of renewable energy as an ultimate source for sustainable development.

Recently, Cr:Nd:YAG ceramic laser pumped by pseudo solar light shows high efficiency of 40%. This fact implies that it has been appeared the ample opportunities for creation of highly effective lasers with the wide range of powers, on the basis of different solar concentrators or Fresnel lenses, which in turn can promote occurrence of new environment-friendly laser technologies.

As the result of our efforts in this direction the laser stand on the basis of Big Solar Furnace has been developed to demonstrate the unique opportunities for carrying out researches on elaboration of solar lasers at this facility. Moreover, numerous calculations have been carried out by modelling of various designs of solar lasers both on small concentrators and on Fresnel lenses as a result of which promising opportunities for creation of effective lasers have been revealed.

In the framework of the project, continuation of our researches on solar lasers and development of pilot models of new lasers intended for the future practical applications is supposed.
