Partnership request description:  At present, we have a list of potential interested partners from Estonia, Lithuania, Croatia, Spain and Greece (currently standing at about 8) – to which we need a few more to ensure a strong partnership bid. We would ask our potential partners to do a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) table of what they can offer, what they need/would like to have and so on as partners on the project that is aimed at promoting the entry, retention and progression of women in the male dominated construction industry sector. Then we can tie in complimentary aspects of partners with the outline of the Gender and Research Activity (Area entitled ‘Strengthening the role of women in scientific research and scientific decision-making bodies). With regards to the background of the FP7 bid, the aim is to build upon the 4 year pedigree (and winner of the National Women in Construction Awards Best Training Programme 2010) of the Women and Work project – and disseminate the lessons learned, Best Practice and Activities out to our European partners. All the partners according to this call and activity area will need to address barriers to recruitment, retention and advancement of women’s career and put forward Gender Equality Plans. These plans of activities and policies will occur both within academic university partner institutions as well as other organisations – and so is very achievable. Please email your interest to Lisa on l.j.worrall@salford.ac.uk. If you have interest and experience in gender related research, training and/or other similar activities I would really like to hear from you.
