Richard Plaschka grants are awarded to young university lecturers of history from abroad whose main focus of academic interest is Austrian history and who want to place special emphasis on this in the teaching at their home universities on a long-term basis.
Richard Plaschka grants last for 18 months and comprise an intensive follow-on support for 18 years by yearly invitations to a scientific symposium and one-month research periods in Austria at regular intervals. In this way a worldwide network of young and committed historians in the field of Austrian history is to be created.
Each year a maximum of seven new Richard Plaschka grants are awarded. An application is possible for the first time by March 1, 2008. Details about the grant and application can be found at www.grants.at
