A former student of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Ljubljana, Lučka Bibič will participate in the "Future Leaders" educational programme, which includes doctoral and postdoctoral researchers from all over the world. Lučka Bibič works as a doctoral researcher in Great Britain at the University of East Anglia, School of Pharmacy. She was selected for the programme by the Chemical Abstracts Service, which is part of the American Chemical Society. 

Lučka Bibič got her place in the programme for her efforts to bring research closer to the public. A computer game "Bug Off Pain" was developed on the basis of her research in pain medication. The player is in the human brain, discovering how people feel pain. She also hosts workshops and participates in radio shows that bring the research results to the public.

Each year the Chemical Abstracts Service of the American Chemical Society selects 30 doctoral and postdoctoral researchers from all over the world, who then participate in a special educational programme. Among other things they meet internationally established researchers, exchange experiences, ideas, meet representatives of the industry, familiarise themselves with the role of science in industry and society, and how to bring science to different audiences.

In the light of this achievement Lučka Bibič says: "I cannot imagine a better starting point than the University of Ljubljana, and all the excellent professional opportunities at the Faculty of Pharmacy, which opened many doors for me."
