"Building Resilience through Heritage:
The CH 4.0 Model for Sustainability-Oriented Planning

This year’s Summer School on Sustainable Heritage at the University of Ljubljana will take place from 16 to 18 September in Ljubljana and Studenice. The central part of the programme will focus on presenting a new system of tools for sustainability-oriented planning for the revitalisation of immovable cultural heritage. We have named it the Cultural Heritage 4.0 Model, which was developed through an interdisciplinary approach as part of the HEI-Transform project.

The model will be presented through the case study of Studenice Monastery. Drawing on the experiences gained and the challenges faced by a private investor, we will discuss the importance of an integrated approach to heritage revitalisation and the potential contribution of heritage to the sustainable transformation of local communities when projects are properly planned.

Alongside the presentation of the model, the Summer School will also address the challenges posed by increasingly intensive climate change. We will focus on the role of the heritage sector, which can make an important contribution both by guiding planning in the field of heritage conservation and by ensuring broader public participation in planning processes. Experts from ICOMOS will also give lectures on these topics during the Summer School."
