The selected candidate will be employed for the position of University Teacher – Assistant Professor (D019008) OR University Teacher – Associate Professor (D019007) OR University Teacher – Full Professor (D019006), depending on the academic title obtained

Salary:

Basic salary depends on the academic title obtained:

  • Assistant Professor: starting at the 35th salary grade (EUR 3,456.37 gross/month);
  • Associate Professor: starting at the 39th salary grade (EUR 3,890.17 gross/month);
  • Full Professor: starting at the 44th salary grade (EUR 4,509.78 gross/month);
  • taking into account the gradual elimination of pay disparities by 2028.

 

Employment start date: 1.10.2026


Conditions for Filling the Position (Required Qualifications):

  • A doctoral degree (PhD) in the academic field of Law obtained under the pre-Bologna study system; or
  • A doctoral degree (PhD) in the academic field of Law (third-cycle Bologna degree);

and

  • A valid appointment to the title of higher education teacher (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor) in the academic field of Labour Law and Social Security Law. A candidate shall be deemed to meet this requirement if he or she holds:
  • a valid academic title awarded by the University of Ljubljana;
  • a valid title awarded by another institution and recognised by the University of Ljubljana through the title recognition procedure; or
  • a valid title of Visiting Teacher at the University of Ljubljana.
  • A candidate shall also be deemed to meet this requirement if he or she fulfils the minimum quantitative and qualitative criteria for appointment to the title in accordance with the Statute of the University of Ljubljana and the Criteria for the Appointment to the Titles of Higher Education Teachers, Researchers and Associates of the University of Ljubljana for the title of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor in the field of Labour Law and Social Security Law.

In such cases, the application must be accompanied by:

  • evidence demonstrating compliance with the quantitative and qualitative criteria for appointment to the title or for recognition of the title, in accordance with the applicable Criteria; and
  • a signed statement confirming the candidate’s consent that, in the event of a favourable decision by the selection committee, the application may also be considered as an application for appointment to the title or for recognition of the title.

The required title must be obtained or recognised before the employment contract is signed.

Preferred additional competencies:

  • Proficiency in standard office and computer applications;
  • Active knowledge of Slovenian and English
  • Competence and experience in teaching and working with students (conducting lectures and other pedagogical activities, preparing and conducting examinations, mentoring, etc.)

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

General description (from the information document):

  • designing and updating curricula and adapting study programmes to professional, pedagogical and legal requirements,
  • Organising and/or co-organising all activities related to the delivery of courses in accordance with the curriculum and developments in the discipline, as well as coordinating and supervising the work of other teaching staff and collaborators (teaching assistants, technical staff and other associates);
  • Conducting lectures, seminars and carrying out other teaching activities within the course;
  • Preparing, administering, assessing and grading examinations and other forms of student assessment;
  • Supervising and mentoring students in the preparation of assignments, theses and other academic work, and participating in other activities related to teaching and professional work within and outside the University;
  • Conducting scientific research and contributing to the development of concepts, theories and methods within the field;
  • Ensuring a safe and healthy working and learning environment for employees and students of the organisational unit, and providing appropriate instruction and training where required;
  • Performing other duties falling within the broader professional scope of the position.
