University teacher at the Department of Criminal Law – 1 position 

• University teacher - Assistant Professor OR  University teacher - Associate Professor OR University teacher - Full Professor (position is dependant on title that a candidate has or will acquire
• Status: Part time employment  - 20% or 8 hour per week
• Type of contract: Fixed-term employment contract to replace an employee during absence, until return, (presumably by the end of 2027)
• Starting date: presumably on 1st of October 2026 or after a candidate is elected to the title
• Trial period: 4 months

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION (for all 3 position):

• forming and updating the syllabus and adjusting academic and professional higher education programmes to requirements;
• organizing and co-organizing all activities for the realization of the course in accordance with the syllabus and findings of the profession, coordination of work and supervision over the work of assistants, technical and other workers related with the realization of the course, teaching, i.e. lecturing; conducting seminars and other pedagogical activities of the course at first, second and third cycle degree levels;
• teaching, i.e. lecturing, managing seminars and other pedagogical activities of the course at first, second and third cycle degree levels;
• managing, evaluating and correcting of exams and other examination tests;
• directing research work and study activities of students and mentoring students with their thesis and other tasks;
• scientific research, study and development of concepts, theories and methods, participation in other activities related to teaching or scientific research work in the field of profession (expertise, recognition of education...);
• concern for the health and safety of other workers and students at the subjects or at research work;
• implementing of other tasks related to the wider area of workplace expertise.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE POSITION (for all 3 positions):

• Doctoral degree in law (PhD; pre-bologna and bologna 3rd cycle PhD; in case of bologna 3rd cycle PhD also 1st and 2nd cycle university law study programme is required)
• Valid habilitation title Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor in the field of Criminology to the Criteria for Appointment to the Titles of University Teachers, Researchers and Associates at the University of Ljubljana, published at the website of the University of Ljubljana (CRITERIA) candidate meets the listed condition if:
  • holds an academic title in required habilitation field at University of Ljubljana; or 
  • holds an academic title of another institution, under the condition that this title can be recognized as equivalent in accordance to the procedure for the recognition at the University of Ljubljana; or
  • fulfils the conditions for appointment to a title of university teacher (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor in the field of Criminology). In this case, together with the application, it is mandatory to submit evidence of compliance with the quantitative and qualitative criteria for appointment to the academic title or for recognition of the title in accordance with the criteria. The candidate must also enclose a statement that he/she agrees that in the event of a positive decision of the selection board, his/her application is to be considered as an application for his/her appointment to the title or for recognition of the title.  
  • the title must be obtained before the signing of the employment contract.

• Active knowledge of Slovenian language at B2 level according to the European Reference Framework for Languages (CEFR).
• Good rhetorical skills, innovativeness and organizational skills  

Preference will be given to candidates:

•  with active knowledge of at least one world language;
•  who have experience in teaching and scientific research work in the field of criminal law or criminology;
