Prerequisits | A student has to be enrolled at least in the bachelor studies at the UL. In the application process, they have to submit a motivation letter addressing certain pre-described topics of the interdisciplinary project. Furthermore, they have to attach their CV, transcript of records, and two reference letters. Selection is made taking into account the identified motivation aspects, average grade, experiences, and documentation attached. |
Learning and teaching methods |
- In a research environment, students will solve real problems and challenges of Slovenian and world science and society in connection with the research findings of Slovenian researchers working within the ASEF association. - Students' work will be held under the mentorship of teaching and research staff from various universities in the United States and other ASEF network/program parts. |

Content (Syllabus outline) | Research conducted by students under the mentorship of ASEF research and teaching staff solves concrete problems of the wider society and economy. This kind of networking and problem-oriented project work under the mentorship of Slovene experts employed at foreign higher education environments enables the development of research and practical skills of students, which increases their employment and career opportunities in the long run. The results of projects or solving research problems can lead to improvements in existing knowledge, can be a source of new ideas and inventions, and at the same time enable the discovery of talented and promising Slovenian students who will provide a direct comparative experience in the program. |

Intended learning outcomes | Knowledge and understanding: The study result is the successful implementation of a project or solution to a research problem and the acquired practical experience, knowledge and competencies that students acquire. Within the activities, conceptual solutions or implementation studies, analyses, research that potentially lead to new knowledge, product, service, innovation or to the introduction of new or improved work processes, new approaches to solving research problems, adaptation to the market and market requirements, and other things that contribute to solving the current needs of the scientific field, society or economy. |
Literature | The readings and basic literature for the implementation of the course shall be defined by each course coordinator, since it is expected that the course contents will adapt each year to the selected theme or even several selected themes. |
