Study programme

 ECTS credit points can be obtained for the first or the second cycle of the study programme.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in the first or the second cycle of a study programme of the University of Ljubljana. Requirement for taking the exam is 75% attendance of the course.

Methods of work

 

  • Lectures: 10 hrs.
  • Tutorial: 50 hrs.
  • Individual work: 30 hrs.

Assessment

The exam is scored from 110 in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana. Theoretical (50%) and practical (50%) exam.

Equipment

Equipment: sportswear, towel, water bottle, savate equipment (savate gloves, shin guard, savate shoes, groin protector, tooth protector)

Content of ECTS sports subject

The subject consists of practical contents and specific theoretical contents which the students will encounter:

  • explanation of basic characteristics of savate technical elements and tactics basis,
  • explanation of savate rules and referee signs,
  • savate fight (French box, Canne de combat and self-defense),
  • organisation of competitions,
  • psychological preparation for fight (technics of psychological preparation of savate athlete),
  • use of appropriate training and competition equipment and sports accessories, 
  • rules of behavior within and out of sports grounds. 

Objectives and competences

Knowledge and understanding differences between Martial arts and Combat sports.

Basic savate training knowledge  (French box, Canne de combat and self-defense).                                                        

Knowledge and understanding basic competition rules adjusted to the level of acquired knowledge.

Knowledge and understanding of savate rules and referee signs.

Fallowing of behavior rules in savate training in sports grounds and in private live.

Using logically organised understandable and individually adjusted programme, master, refresh and upgrade basic elements of savate and other aspects connected with self-defense.

Improvement of self-esteem, self-confidence, concentration and safety.

Knowledge of healthy life style.

Mastering methods for body regeneration and psychological preparations for strain.

Competence (physical, technical , tactical and psychologic ) for performance at competitions (in framework of the subject).

Development of physical and functional competence and individual characteristics.

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding:

On top of knowledge of savate technics of French box and Canne de combat very important and useful knowledge of falling and self-defense technics effort to improve physical and functional competence, improving of  posture, developing endurance, fightfulness, discipline, fair play, development of concentration and successful thinking strategies, planning and decision making, facing fears, anger, anxiety and aggressiveness.
 
The subject includes mid and final testing for higher (level) “glove”, namely practical test of ability for continuing trainings on higher difficulty level.
 
Understanding basic principles and training rules mastering of basic knowledge in the field of savate consideration of deference between Martial arts and Combat sports.  
 
Knowledge of principles and rules in savate training , self-control in unexpected situations, more effective reacting in unexpected situations.
 
Understanding and connecting theory with practical experience, evaluation of connection between theoretical principle and practical activity.  
 
Use of acquired knowledge and behavior in everyday life for compensation of negative effects of partial strain and sedentary way of life in time of studies and work. Using psychological technics of relaxation and directing attention, better concentration and self-confidence (prevention of burnout in individuals and burnout in athletes).  
 
Skill of using literature, didactical aids, identification and solution of problems, critical analysis, reflection concerning used literature and work in groups.
