Study programme

ECTS credit points can be obtained for the first or the second cycle of the study programme.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in the first or the second cycle of a study programme of the University of Ljubljana. Requirement for taking the exam is 75% attendance of the course.

Methods of work

  • Lectures: 10 hrs.
  • Tutorial: 50 hrs.
  • Individual work: 30 hrs.

Assessment

The exam is scored from 110 in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana. Theoretical (50%) and practical (50%) exam.

Content of ECTS sports subject

Course content theory:

  • The social role and importance of Nordic skiing with a brief historical overview
  • Disciplines of Nordic skiing and biathlon
  • Basics of organization and management of Nordic skiing in the world and Slovenia
  • Sports and recreation emanation of cross-country skiing
  • Elements of classic and skating techniques of cross-country skiing
  • Methodology of teaching elements of classical and skating technique of cross country skiing
  • The content and organization of sports and recreation programs in the field of cross-country skiing
  • Teacher of cross-country skiing

Course content practical:

  • Introduction to the selection of appropriate equipment, preparation and storage of equipment
  • Getting used to the equipment and slide on cross-country skis
  • Elements of classic and skating techniques of cross-country skiing with the teaching methodology
  • Display of special imitation methods in teaching techniques of cross country skiing
  • Basic methodology of teaching ski jumping at the jumps with cross-country skis.
  • Organization and implementation of cross-country skiing on the march.
  • Organisation and implementation of competitions in cross-country skiing.
  • Organisation of games, relay runs, polygons and exercise at stations.

Objectives and competences

The primary purpose is to educate students of all faculties in the field of cross-country skiing:

  • Raising awareness of the values ​​of sport and the formation of positive attitudes towards sport
  • Expression of a healthy lifestyle with regular exercising, preventing the consequences of lack of movement, taking care to improve physical abilities, getting used to the creative use of leisure time
  • Ability to perform in competition (within the ECTS sports subject)
  • Knowledge of the theoretical basics of Nordic skiing with an emphasis on cross-country skiing
  • Mastering the basic elements of classical and skating technique of cross country skiing
  • Mastering methodical procedures in teaching content cross-country skiing

Intended learning outcomes

Understanding the concepts, rules and procedures defined in the curriculum;

The use of knowledge in the field of sport in our daily lives to compensate for the negative effects of unilateral load during the study;

Using knowledge for successful planning, execution and analysis of the training process by means of cross-country skiing in the area of ​​sports recreation;

Using domestic and foreign literature, the use of appropriate teaching aids, identification and problem solving, critical analysis, successful work with the group and individuals

The ECTS sports subject is financed by the University of Ljubljana, students cover certain part of the cost (transport, accommodation with food, tickets). Participation in the ECTS sports subjects is at the student’s own risk.
