Study programme

ECTS credit points can be obtained for the first or the second cycle of the study programme.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in the first or the second cycle of a study programme of the University of Ljubljana. Requirement for taking the exam is 75% attendance of the course.

Methods of work

  • Lectures: 10 hrs.
  • Tutorial: 50 hrs.
  • Individual work: 30 hrs.

Assessment

The exam is scored from 110 in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana. Theoretical (50%) and practical (50%) exam.

Equipment

Sports clothes and clean sports shoes, bottle of water.

Content of ECTS sports subject

Theoretical content includes basic concepts and definitions of dance, dance involvement in society, the forms of dance movement, connection and interface with other artistic and cultural fields; theoretical content is presented in a condensed form at practical exercises, which include the basics of Ballroom and Latin American dances and rock 'n' roll.

Objectives and competences

  • Raising awareness about the values of sport, its influence on positive attitudes toward a healthy lifestyle
  • Eliminating and preventing the consequences of a lack of exercise or concern for the improvement of mental and physical abilities, health promotion and creative use of leisure time
  • Ability to perform in competition
  • Proficiency in basic dance elements of social dance, the acquisition of specific skills to learn about the beauty and culture of movement
  • Preservation and development of cultural traditions, the acquisition of attitudes towards dance as the basic elements of quality of life

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding of the principles and the ways of movement individually, in couples or in groups;

Using the acquired knowledge in everyday life and to compensate for the negative effects of stress during the study;

Finding new friends, socialization, getting a permanent lifestyle habits;

Ability to use literature, use of teaching aids, identification and problem solving, critical analysis
