Study programme

ECTS credit points can be obtained for the first or the second cycle of the study programme.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in the first or the second cycle of a study programme of the University of Ljubljana. Requirement for taking the exam is 75% attendance of the course.

Methods of work

  • Lectures: 10 hrs.
  • Tutorial: 50 hrs.
  • Individual work: 30 hrs.

Assessment

The exam is scored from 110 in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana. Theoretical (50%) and practical (50%) exam.

Equipment

Sports clothes and clean sport shoes, bottle of water.

Content of ECTS sports subject

Theoretical contents include basic concepts in dance, historical development and placement of dance genres in culture; theoretical content is presented in a condensed form at practical exercises, which include familiarization with popular dance genres such as salsa, mambo, swing, kizomba, zumba, argentine tango, belly dance, flamenco, capoiera, bachata, etc. (basic technical movements, dancing figures and connections, upgrading dance figures and making  choreographies).

Objectives and competences

  • Raising awareness about the values of sport and its influence on formation of positive attitudes to a healthy lifestyle
  • Eliminating and preventing the consequences of a lack of exercising, concern for the improvement of mental and physical abilities, socialization and creative use of leisure time
  • Proficiency in basic dance elements of popular dance genres (hip- hop,r disco,r swing,r Argentine tango,r salsa, oriental dances, flamenco, capoeira, etc.) and the acquisition of specific knowledge to the extent that students can compete or perform
  • Preservation and development of cultural traditions, the acquisition of attitudes towards dance as the quality of everyday life.

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding of basic movement individually, in a couple or in groups;

Use the acquired knowledge in everyday life in order to compensate for the negative effects of stress during study;

Making new friends, socialization, ensuring quality of life, building permanent lifestyle habits;

Critical analysis, work in groups, education competitive spirit
