Study programme

ECTS credit points can be obtained for the first or the second cycle of the study programme.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in the first or the second cycle of a study programme of the University of Ljubljana. Requirement for taking the exam is 75% attendance of the course.

Methods of work

  • Lectures: 10 hrs.
  • Tutorial: 50 hrs.
  • Individual work: 30 hrs.

Assessment

The exam is scored from 110 in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana. Theoretical (50%) and practical (50%) exam.

Equipment

Sports clothes and clean sports shoes, towel, bottle of water.

  • Motor and physical development of children, adolescents and adults with special needs
  • Psychosomatic developmental characteristics of adolescents and adults with special needs
  • Motor abilities, limitations and specificity of adolescents and adults with special needs
  • Monitoring the load of adolescents and adults with special needs
  • Elementary and social games
  • Wheelchair basketball
  • Hockey wheelchairs
  • Tennis and table tennis
  • Walking, Nordic walking, running, cycling
  • Activities on and in the water
  • Dance workshops
  • Proprioceptive training
  • Special Olympics, MATP, Paralympic games, sports of people with disabilities

Objectives and competences

  • Getting to know some aspects of physical and motor development of persons with disabilities
  • Creating links between different areas of development (physical, physical, cognitive, emotional and social statistics)
  • Understand the issues of specific approaches to planning and implementation of physical and sports activities for persons with disabilities
  • Gradually train the exercising greater control of movement (also in a wheelchair), for the development of coordination of movement in space and/or ride the trolley
  • Enable the exercising of basic ball games and to acquaint them with the terminology specific sport
  • To introduce the exercising of the basic rules of each sport and with the essential theoretical foundations
  • Develop mutual cooperation, perseverance, self-esteem and patience
  • Develop information and energy component of movement of exercising
  • Develop motor skills: the power of hands, torso; the mobility of the shoulder girdle, coordination, speed (implementation movements, explosive, etc.), balance, precision and durability
  • Align with the water and learn to swim
  • To move to the rhythm and learn regarded hear strokes, connect them to the movement
  • To learn how to set dances and dance composition
  • Learn the basics of classical aerobics
  • Obtain and/or improve aerobic capacity
  • Implement outdoor activities (biking, walking, hiking, mountaineering, Nordic walking)
  • Ability to achieve the objectives in the field of movement and sports activities for people with special needs (care of consistent physical development, movement and functional abilities, conquering various natural forms of movement, the basic elements of different sports, sports as a pleasant experience with the game, pairing with appropriate clothing and footwear, sports accessories, the basic principles of safety, hygiene, etc.)
  • Ability to understand the structure of kinesiology, the specifics of movement and functional abilities of persons with disabilities

Intended learning outcomes

Understand the ways and means that are associated with approaches to persons with special needs and physical or sport activities for persons with disabilities and limitations and pathologies.

Knowing the basics of a variety of conditions, diseases and pathologies in physical and mental development, specific features of the structure of kinesiology persons with special needs, understanding and knowledge of basic design strategies for persons with disabilities;

Knowing the basics of the particularities of the development of motor learning in individuals with special needs and the introduction of movement and sports and recreation programs in their way of life;

Understanding the basic principles of manufacturing programs of exercise and sports and recreational activities for persons with disabilities according to their developmental characteristics;

Skills of using a variety of sources, interpretation of data, identification and resolution of problems related to kinesiology and adjacent areas
