The Minister of Education, Science and Sport Dr. Maja Makovec Brenčič welcomed the pupils, students and their mentors who achieved notable results at international knowledge competitions in the past year. Several students from the University of Ljubljana are among the 150 youths and their mentors.
"We are exceptionally proud when we see how many young people are participating in different competitions and projects around the world and how many exceptional results you are achieving in very different fields. The young here are proof that our education and research systems are good, since they allows you to both acquire a lot of knowledge and be motivated and dedicated to what you are doing," said Minister Dr. Makovec Brenčič at the reception. She congratulated them for their exceptional results, and she thanked the mentors and competition organizers for their excellent work and effort invested in helping the youth to compete with their peers around the world.
The success of the students from the University of Ljubljana is bountiful. The students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Ljubljana won second place at the International Mathematics Competition for University Students. A team of students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana placed third in the robot wheelchair category at Cybatholon, the world championship held in Zürich for athletes with disabilities. A group of students from the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana won the competition in European law in Luxemburg. Students from the Academy for Fine Arts and Design of the University of Ljubljana achieved notable results in competitions in industrial design in Hannover at the international glass exhibition in Denmark as well as at an international competition in the scientific illustration category.
