Recently a team of students from the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana (UL PF) achieved a place between 5th and 8th at the 13th ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition, organised by the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, with more than 130 world renowned mediators and 66 competitor teams from 33 countries from all over the world.
The team members Maja Bosnič, Andrej Goluh, Tajda Jager and Maša Pleško consolidated their December win at the pre-competition in Hannover. In the first part of the competition they participated in four mediations and were successfully placed among the best 16 teams. In the first four mediations they were up against last year's winners, the Israeli College of Law and Business, the native speakers from New York's Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Singapore Management University, and the team from the University MGIMO from Russia.
In the round of the final 16 teams, they were successful against the Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie from Brazil, and made it to the quarter finals, where they were eliminated in the mediation against the competition finalists, the Saint Joseph University of Beirut. The result between 5th and 8th place is the best place UL PF has achieved until now. They defeated the teams of native speakers, which were coached by world renowned mediators. They were also the only team who made it to the quarter-finals and was coached exclusively by students, namely the former competitors Tina Ahačič and Maja Činč.
