SUPPORTING ERASMUS STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL STATUS IN INTEGRATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LJUBLJANA

Student mobility is a great opportunity for broadening your horizons and personal development. It is a rich experience that will become a lasting memory. We warmly invite you to the Erasmus exchange at the University of Ljubljana! Remember that the purpose of your exchange is to gain new knowledge and experiences, so take your studies seriously. But don’t worry, there’ll still be plenty of time for fun.

We want you to integrate in our university and life in our country, regardless of your socio-economic or any other personal circumstances. To this end, we have prepared some practical information for you about taking part in the Erasmus exchange at the University of Ljubljana. Below, we explain how the students’ special status is arranged at the University, and how you can get help with any necessary adjustments and forms of support we can provide you with before and during your Erasmus exchange.

STUDENTS' SPECIAL STATUS, ADJUSTMENTS TO STUDIES AND STUDY OBLIGATIONS

At the University of Ljubljana, special status is awarded to students with special achievements in sports, art and culture, students who are parents and students with special needs1, which includes students in exceptional social circumstances. This status entitles students to certain adapted study plans and requirements.

Adjustments can also be arranged by Erasmus students who have already received a comparable form of status at their home university. A certificate issued by the university in question is sufficient.

If you don’t have the status yet but believe you need it, see to it as soon as possible (before applying for Erasmus exchange) at your home university; although we do not issue special statuses to Erasmus students, we take them into account if students arranged them at their home university.

WHETHER BEFORE OR DURING THE EXCHANGE, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

We completely understand that special status students might have reservations when it comes to obtaining such a status, but you should know that you are not alone.

We have compiled an overview of useful information for you to read about in the Welcome Guide. We will be happy to provide any information or answer any questions via .

Other useful information/support during your mobility:

  • Tutoring – for foreign students and students with special needs. More information and contacts are available from the faculty’s Erasmus coordinator.
  • Authorised persons for students with special status have a lot of experience with integration of students with special needs into the study process. Erasmus coordinators can connect you with them if you have any specific enquiries or would like to arrange any adjustments, or if you have any other questions relating to your personal circumstances.
  • The psychosocial counselling service is at your disposal if you happen to feel lonely during your mobility, or if you find yourself wanting to talk about your personal situation or distress.
  • Throughout the year, the Centre for Personal and Professional Development of Students organises numerous free-of-charge extracurricular activities: recreation, one-on-one career counselling, workshops for the development of various competences, development of career path management skills, etc. As part of the University of Ljubljana community, you will have access to extensive other online content in English.
