The University of Ljubljana invites candidates to apply for the position of

Project Manager for COMPETE - HEAD OF DEPARTMENT AT UNIVERSITY VII/2 (I) M/F for work on the COMPETE project 
for a fixed period up to 31 December 2023 with full-time working hours

Under the acquired funding from the European Commission Work Programme Horizon 2020 – ERA Chair, a new Chair of Micro Process Engineering and Technology (COMPETE) is being established at the University of Ljubljana (UL), Slovenia. The centre combines micro-process engineering disciplines – (bio)chemical, mechanical and electrical engineering – with basic research in biophysics, (bio)chemistry and microbiology aiming to create new microfluidics-based solutions in biomedicine, biotechnology, food quality assessment and environmental protection.
We are offering the position of Project Manager for the COMPETE project for the duration of the project (up to 31 December 2023). During this time the Project Manager will assist in the organisational and financial management of the project, within which researchers will apply for and conduct research and industrial projects, technical workshops and summer schools. The Project Manager will also assist in drawing up reports, disseminating results and in communication and public relations. Candidates must have experience in the area of administrative and financial management of projects and organisation of events.

Job description:
- providing assistance to Chair Holder
- overall administrative and financial project management
- coordination of project meetings
- preparation of progress reports and a final report
- management of day-to-day activities during the project
- administration of contracts
- cooperation with Project Coordinator regarding specific administrative and financial issues, when needed
- assessment and management of potential risks during the project

Conditions for the position:
- specialisation following (previous) higher education in the fields of social or natural sciences; or
- academic (previous) higher education in the fields of social or natural sciences; or
- master’s degree (Bologna second-cycle) in the fields of social or natural sciences
- active knowledge of English
- skills in use of computer programmes
- familiarity with regulations in the field
- communicativeness
- leadership and organisational abilities
- 4 years’ work experience
- probationary period: 3 months
