Project manager, mid-level seniority position - Slovenia
We would like to welcome to our team a highly motivated, results-driven, project manager.
The University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, is among top 3% of universities in the world and one of the leading universities in the region.
The University is establishing a new interdisciplinary Research and Development centre - COMPETE in collaboration with five faculties: medical faculty, biotechnology, chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering. The goal of COMPETE is to establish an international recognised research centre in the field of microfluidics to boost the collaboration among academic and industrial partners in the field. The aim is to educate, establish new collaborations and support the knowledge valorisation in terms of projects, patents and spin-off companies.
Therefore, we are looking for a project manager who will work with potential customers and partners, help to define vision, set-up a business plan, and work closely with the technical team. We value applicants who are enthusiastic about cutting-edge technologies and are motivated to work with the team to bring new products and services to life. Slovenia is a safe country with high standard of living. It is known for its beautiful nature and good food. A few attractions, such as the Adriatic coast, hiking trails and Alpine ski resorts can be reached within an hour from Ljubljana.
1. Your responsibilities
- Organization and coordiantion of the project management activities
- Supervision and coordiantion of other team members
- Colaboration and coordination with other university services
- Setting-up the solutions, prepartion of documents, following the procedures of other services
- Consulting other colleagues on the project management
- Helping with development of business models
- Keeping costs, budget, and timeline under control, monitoring of KPIs and achieving targets, performance analysis
- Coordinating different partners to deliver results on-budget and on-time
- Reliable execution of tasks and reporting
2. Desired interests in the following:
- Proactively searching for business opportunities
- Networking with industry and other academic partners
- Helping in setting COMPETE development strategy.
- Finding new sources of funding for centre development
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and, establishing personal networks
3. Required experience and skills
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in the fields of social or natural sciences
- At least four years of working experience in a similar position
- Positive, make-it-happen attitude.
- Fluent in English language (spoken and written)
- Excellent communication skills (clear, accurate, effective, and friendly communication)
- Experience in using MS Office suite, comfortable in using other software tools (i.e. project management software)
4. Nice-to-have experience and skills
- Experience in project management
- Technical background or work experience in a high-tech environment
- Experience with EU funded projects

6. The temporary employment contract will be concluded for a time of duration of the project (till 31st of December 2024). There is an obligatory 3 months probation period.
