On Monday, 30 March 2015, the Krim Sports Hall was bursting at the seams. Over 150 participants in the Kempa Handball Championship of the University of Ljubljana for the 2014/2015 academic year and their fans were swarming on and around the handball court. The title for the best men’s team went to the students of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana and the title for the best women’s team went to the students of the Faculty of Sport of the University of Ljubljana. 

The men’s event saw a competition between seven faculty teams, the most equal contestants being the teams of the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Sport of the University of Ljubljana. The two teams went head to head in the game deciding the winner of the tournament. Despite the well-matched skills and the score after the end of regulation play, the penalty shootout secured a win and 1st place for the team of the Faculty of Economics. The team of the Faculty of Sport, last year’s winners of the Handball Championship, took second place. Third place went to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana

Five teams participated in the women’s competition. The third place playoff saw a game between the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology (FKKT) and the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. The team of the Biotechnical Facutly was narrowly beaten by the players of the FKKT team. The tournament victory was decided in the game between the teams of the Faculty of Sport and the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Ljubljana. With a four-goal difference, the students of the Faculty of Sport of the University of Ljubljana emerged as winners. 

Based on the assessments of all the men’s team captains, the title of best player in the men’s competition and the special prize from the sponsor went to the goalkeeper of the team of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana, Nik Mlakar. The women’s team captains gave the title of best player in the women’s competition to Eva Zorko, a student of the winning Faculty of Sport of the University of Ljubljana.
