The Rector of the University of Ljubljana, Professor Ivan Svetlik, PhD, held a reception for the athletes who took part in the 2nd European Universities Games in 2014. Expressing his gratitude for their achievements, the athletes were also addressed by the Dean of the Faculty of Sport and President of the Sports Association of the University of Ljubljana, Professor Milan Žvan, PhD. 

The students represented the University of Ljubljana at the 2nd European Universities Games in three sports: football, table tennis and tennis. In a competition between eighteen football teams, the footballers of the University of Ljubljana finished in 9th place. The men’s table tennis team took 7th place, matching their result from 2013, while the women finished the team competition in 13th place. The University of Ljubljana also had a men’s and women’s team in the tennis competition. The women finished in 13th and the men in 9th place. 

The Rector gave a special commendation to Toja Černe, the student of the Faculty of Sport who won the bronze medal in the category of compound bow at the 2014 World University Championship in Archery. 

Congratulations to all the athletes who represented the University of Ljubljana in international competitions in 2014 and congratulations to their coaches and support staff.
