Ljubljana, 3 November 2015 – In the spirit of internationalisation the University of Ljubljana organised a two day visit for a delegation from the Belgian university KU Leuven. The purpose of the visit was to sign a memorandum on strategic partnership, as the universities have been successfully cooperating on different research projects since 2007.

During the visit the Vice-chancellor professor Dr. Danny Pieters from KU Leuven met with representatives of the management and researchers from different faculties of the University of Ljubljana; among other activities he also visited the new buildings of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology and the Faculty of Computer and Information Science.

The Chancellor of the University of Ljubljana professor Dr. Ivan Svetlik and the Vice-chancellor of KU professor Dr. Danny Pieters concluded the two day visit by signing a memorandum on strategic partnership between the universities, including the exchange of teachers, researchers, students and expert staff. It is among the best universities in the world, holding the 118th place on the Academic Ranking of World Universities (also known as the Shanghai Ranking), and the 35th position on the Times Higher Education Ranking.
