An exhibition by the students of the Chair for Unique Design/glass and ceramics of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design of the University of Ljubljana opened on 22 December at the Balkonska dvorana Gallery which continues the series of presentations of departments and chairs at the Academy within the Arts Council at the University Gallery.

The exhibition was opened by the Chancellor of the University Professor Dr Ivan Svetlik and the Dean of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design of the University of Ljubljana Associate Professor Boštjan Botas Kenda. Both expressed their pleasure with the success of such collaboration between the University and the Academy and wished for it to continue in the year to come. The Vice-chancellor Professor Matej Zupan added that the main aim of the cultural events of the Arts Council is to bring closer the often untouchable and evasive nature of such art, and to bring its richness to the wider academic environment.

The leader of the Chair for Unique Design/glass and ceramics professor Tanja Pak, MA, talked about the history of the Chair, the successes of its students and the exhibition: "I am excited by the boldness of my students who dare to be different, individual, who dare to challenge, question, examine, but also defend and take responsibility, and to fall down and get up again. Together we open doors, and I believe that they will confidently walk their own paths and change the understanding of glass as a medium in design and art in Slovenia."

The holiday atmosphere of the event was enhanced by the musical performance of singer Brina Vidic, a 3rd year student of Unique Design.
