In mid-December 2015, we successfully finished the three-month project FIAT Likes U – Ljubljana, hosted in the winter semester 2015/2016 by the University of Ljubljana in cooperation with the official importer of Fiat vehicles for Slovenia – the company Avto Triglav.

The aim of the project was to promote the mobility of students by providing FIAT vehicles for rent free of charge on the project website; the project was intended for all students of the University of Ljubljana. Students were able to choose among five vehicles, which they picked up on Petkovškovo nabrežje on the day of their reservation. For the purpose of the project, the Urban Municipality of Ljubljana provided free parking places and parking cards. The project was coordinated by Doc. Dr. Vasilka Sancin from the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana and the FIAT Ambassador Melvin Kapo, a law student.

Due to the exceptional usability and easy reservation of vehicles, the students were happy to use the opportunity to rent them, which was reflected in a 98-percent occupancy rate of the vehicles as the project wound up. From the project kick-off on 6 October 2015 to its end on 14 December 2015, the vehicles were rented 191 times. In total, students travelled 39,026 km. The vehicles were also used by the members of faculty student councils for event organisation.

Since this is the first such cooperation between the academic sphere and the private sector, project organisers did not restrict themselves only to the practical and everyday benefits of students, but, with the desire to make the study more internationally-oriented and comprehensive, they organised lectures by experts employed at the FCA Group (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles).
