At Informativa 2016 the University of Ljubljana was voted best exhibitor

On Friday and Saturday, 22 and 23 January 2016, the 8th Slovenian Education and Career Fair Informativa was held at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, where more than 200 education programmes for secondary school, university students and adults were presented.

Within the presentation "Z Univerzo v Ljubljani odločno po začrtanih poteh" (Boldly walking the paths with the University of Ljubljana) the visitors were addressed by the Rector of the University of Ljubljana Dr. Ivan Svetlik. He described his career path and encouraged future students toward more individual extracurricular activities. He believes that the students of the University of Ljubljana can be at the top of their chosen fields with passionate and hard work.

In the University town the visitors met representatives of the University's academic departments where they received all the information about the education programmes, available extracurricular activities and other services the largest university in Slovenia offers to its students.

The visitors tested their knowledge in solving nautical tasks and explored the unmanned air vehicle (drone) made by the students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana during their studies and which won a competition in the USA. The visitors could also enter the world of robotics with the YuMI robot. This compact robotic system matches a human in its workspace dimensions and mechanism.

Solving a series of problems led all the inquisitive visitors to solutions that were locked in a safe, while the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Ljubljana tested the future students' knowledge in mathematics and physics.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana presented a model of the wind tunnel used in the design and construction of the Planica ski jump. The latter was developed in cooperation with the Planica Nordic Center and the company Kolektor; it permits the ski jumpers and flyers to train side by side.

After the conclusion of the Fair, the University of Ljubljana was voted the best among all exhibitors by the visitors and was awarded the IVO owl award.
