The joint master's programme European Master in Tourism Management (EMTM) was chosen by the European Commission as a success story. Success stories, here, are projects which stand out through their influence, contribution to policy design, innovative results, creative approaches, and are an inspiration to others. Our success story was selected upon strict criteria, taking into account the quality of programme, its suitability and results. Due to its selection, the programme will be visible and recognised on the European Commission website, on social media and in materials for conferences and other events, as it will attract numerous decision makers and experts from the field of tourism.
The EMTM programme in the study year 2016/17 reached an extremely high 9th place among the TOP 100 in the Eduniversal ranking. What points to the quality of the programme is that it was chosen by the EACA as the 2010 Erasmus Mundus project for a five year period, then again in 2015 under Erasmus+ for a period of three years from among the top 20 similar programmes in Europe.
The European Master in Tourism Management is a joint master's programme and has been carried out since 2007 by three partnering universities: Southern Denmark University, the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana, and the Spanish University of Girona.
This year the EMTM programme is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Since 2010, it has attracted about 600 candidates each year. Among all the applicants they select 35 students from 25 European countries as well as non-EU members. In the ten years of the programme’s operation it has enrolled 277 students, of which 159 concluded the programme successfully (the last and second-to-last generations have yet to graduate).
Congratulations to all the designers and holders of the programme, and to all the students.
