The University of Warwick (UK) is hosting the second EUTOPIA Week (EWeek) online from 23 November 2020 to 27 November 2020.

EUTOPIA Week brings together key actors - students, researchers, subject matter experts and strategic partners - from across our European alliance network, every six months. The University of Warwick will be hosting a number of additional online events, open to all, to provide unique insights and enable important discussions on topics impacting society today.

What’s happening?
The programme includes a range of workshops, panel debates and open forum Q&A’s to choose from. We have engaged a range of high-profile speakers from across our networks to participate in important topical discussions relating to Higher Education and the wider global operating context. All sessions will be delivered online, with some limited on numbers, managed on a first-come, first-served basis.

WeDiscover Days Barcelona

The WeDiscover Days Barcelona, which took place virtually from 28 to 30 October, have set a precedent, by being a meeting point, for the 6 universities of the EUTOPIA alliance. With great success, the event was the first step towards the Open Innovation Challenge within Work Package 4 - Place-Making.

EUTOPIA-SIF (Science & Innovation Post-Doctoral Fellowships Programme)

For its first call for applications opening on October 19th, corresponding to the academic year 2020/21, the EUTOPIA alliance offers to PhD holders or equivalent, of any nationality, 20 grants as part of the EUTOPIA Science and Innovation Fellowships Programme (EUTOPIA-SIF), co-funded from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation Maria Sklodowska-Curie Actions.
This programme intends to enhance the research potential and the career perspectives of young researchers from all six EUTOPIA partners. The selected candidates of the 2020/21 call are expected to prove their capacity to bring original solutions to the social challenges faced in the five key research areas outlined by the programme. As academic experts, they shall help to understand and figure solutions to the difficulties faced by a planet with limited resources and complex societal issues.

Interdisciplinary interactions are appreciated, and applicants from the Arts and Humanities encouraged. The selected research areas are detailed on the EUTOPIA website (link below).

The submission platform of this first call for proposals has opened on October 19th, 2020. The deadline for submission of proposals is January 11th, 2021

2021 EUTOPIA Undergraduate Research Support Scheme
The EUTOPIA Undergraduate Research Support Scheme (EURSS) provides scholarships of €1500 for students to lead their own international research projects during the summer vacation period. Students will develop valuable transferable skills, build their confidence and enhance their CVs and job prospects. The EURSS will be open for applications until the 28th February 2021, with 3 scholarships available per EUTOPIA partner.

ACT Sustainable conference
The ACT Sustainable conference is organized by the Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg (GU). It is completely digital this year and will take place from November 16th to the 20th.
Selected sessions will be streamed to the public and external guests. Events open to the general public are marked with a special label in the programme. External guests participate on Youtube and have limited access to the interactive parts of the programme.

Students studying at any EUTOPIA partner are invited to participate in the Act Sustainable Design Jam on Wednesday, 18 November. Please pass the Design Jam information and registration link to your students. The theme this year is sustainable student mobility. 

Whether you are GU student/staff or an external guest, you have to register for specific events. The registration deadline is November 11th.

UNI.MINDS festival
UNI.MINDS is a unique online festival connecting the largest Slovenian universities and industry. The festival is held online from 5-24 November. With this festival, we hope to make our future healthy, smart and sustainable  - join us and let's build a better world together. 
The UNI.MINDS festival is organized by knowledge transfer offices of the University of Ljubljana and the University of Maribor. The 20-day event is made of 23 online sessions and it will host 100+ speakers from academia and industry on 1 online platform for connecting with future partners. 
As the main partner of the event, Novartis Slovenia is going to host their Second Researcher's Day as part of the UNI.MINDS festival on November 10th. For more information, check the UNI.MINDS website through the link below.

UNI.MINDS will give you the opportunity to get to know European and world development trends, activities and competencies of both universities, as well as good practices of collaboration between academia and industry. Participating faculties will also organize bonus workshops for Companies offering new knowledge and skills.
