Prof. Dr. Igor Papič and Prof. Dr. Gregor Majdič will face off in the second round of voting for the position of Rector of the University of Ljubljana, to be held on Wednesday 21 April 2021. Previously, neither candidate gained more than 50 percent of the valid votes. Dr. Papič received 35.5 percent of the votes and Dr. Majdič 29.7 percent. Regarding the three groups of people eligible to vote, turnout was highest, at 63.3 percent, among higher education teachers, scientific staff and higher education and research associates.
The position of Rector of the University of Ljubljana was being contested by four candidates. Voting took place simultaneously at all 26 member faculties, academies and the Rectorate of the University of Ljubljana. Due to the epidemiological conditions, voting took place electronically, using the Simply Voting system. The election saw the participation of 18.4 percent of those eligible to vote. Regarding the three groups of people eligible to vote, turnout was highest, at 63.3 percent, among higher education teachers, scientific staff and higher education and research associates. This was followed by the group of professional, administrative and technical staff, at 50.3 percent turnout, and the lowest level of turnout was among students, at 12.2 percent. These groups are allocated different weighting in the compiling of votes, in the proportions of 60/20/20.
Prof. dr. Igor Papič received 35.5 percent of the votes (after weighting), Prof. Dr. Gregor Majdič 29.7 percent (after weighting). The first round also involved the participation of Prof. Dr. Anton Ramšak, who received 26 percent of the votes (after weighting), and Prof. Dr. Igor Lukšič, who received 8.8 percent (after weighting). Dr. Papič and Dr. Majdič will face off in the second round of voting for the position of Rector of the University of Ljubljana.
