Today, gathered in the Chamber Hall of the University of Ljubljana, we marked the 125th anniversary of the birth of academician Professor Doctor Milan Vidmar, the tenth rector and honorary doctor of the University of Ljubljana, the second president of the Slovenian Academy of Science and Arts, the founder of the Electric Power Research Institute in Ljubljana (which today bears his name) and the first Yugoslav chess grandmaster. The guests were addressed by University Rector Professor Stane Pejovnik, while an interesting presentation of Prof. Dr. Vidmar’s life was prepared by academician Professor Doctor Ivan Bratko. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Vidmar’s relatives, the Minister for Slovenians Abroad, representatives and members of the Slovenian Academy of Science and Arts and members of the Chess Federation of Slovenia. For this occasion, the Šahohlačnik chess school issued the Podobe velemojstrov, Milan Vidmar (Images of Grandmasters, Milan Vidmar) monograph.
