This year, the Chancellor and Deans made their way to Prešeren Square led by the Ljubljana University Symphonic Winds. There was a performance by the Kill Kenny student band, followed by stand up comedian Vid Valič, who entertained the crowd for over an hour. In addition to Chancellor Prof. Radovan Stanislav Pejovnik, PhD, the first year students and their parents were also addressed by their host and Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Janković and by student representatives Žiga Krušič, President of the University of Ljubljana Student Council, and Aljoša Krdžić. The University of Ljubljana Tone Tomšič Academic Choir performed in the official part of the event. For the first time this year, there were stands with presentations of the Ljubljana national theatres: Opera and Ballet, Drama and the Slovenian Philharmonic. They gave out a number of free tickets for shows and concerts to the first year students. Pivovarna Union distributed bottled water and bottles of Sola to students.The event in the Prešeren Square was followed by a football match in Kodeljevo between FC Bravo tudent and FC Svoboda. On this “Students’ Football Holiday”, we were treated to an exciting match, won 1:0 (0:0 at halftime) by FC Svoboda. You can read more about the match at http://student.nk-bravo.si/.
