This year's Grand Prešeren Award for life's work went to the conductor and full professor Anton Nanut, the professor of conducting at the Academy of Music from 1972 to 2000. A number of current leading Slovenian conductors graduated from his class, some of them well-established abroad. Maestro Nanut has directed numerous concerts of the Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra. He last led our orchestra in the highly successful performance of Mahler's Symphony No2 in April 2009 at the gala concert that marked the 90th anniversary of the Conservatoire of the Glasbena Matica music society and the 70th anniversary of the Academy of Music.

Furthermore, a Prešeren Fund Award was received by Jure Košuta, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design.

Congratulations!
