On 18 April 2011, the University of Ljubljana hosted Prof. K.K.S. Hirimburegama, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo (Sri Lanka), and Prof. Ramanie Jayatilaka, Head of the Department of Sociology at their Faculty of Arts. Rector Prof. Radovan Stanislav Pejovnik and the Vice-Chancellor signed a Memorandum of Understanding, formalising and broadening the already existing collaboration between the two Universities. The event was attended by Prof. Bogdan Lešnik, Dean of the Faculty of Social Work, which has been collaborating with the University of Colombo since 2005 (see description of the project), Prof. Goran Turk, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, Prof. Neža Mramor Kosta, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Prof. Mihael Jožef Toman, Dean of the Biotechnical Faculty, Prof. Ksenija Vidmar Horvat, Head of the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Tamara Ditrich from the Department of Asian and African Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Boštjan Kravanja from the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Prof. Svanibor Pettan from the Department of Musicology at the Faculty of Arts, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative Ms. Irena Gril.
