World Kayak Champion Peter Kauzer received by the Rector of the University of Ljubljana
Peter Kauzer, two time World Kayak Champion and student at the Faculty of Sports of the University of Ljubljana, today responded to the invitation of the Rector of the University of Ljubljana. The Rector Prof. Dr. Radovan Stanislav Pejovnik congratulated him on his medal won at the World Championship. They discussed the life of a top student athlete. Together they came to a conclusion that the University of Ljubljana should help top athletes with their studies and try to establish such study forms that would, at the peak of their sports career, enable them to at least keep in touch with their studies, since during the most intensive preparations for competitions, full-time study is not possible.
Prof. Dr. Radovan Stanislav Pejovnik, Rector of the University of Ljubljana: “We realise that top sport is extremely demanding and that full-time studies suffer as a result. The successful achievements of our top athletes are important both for the country and the University of Ljubljana. It is our common interest, however, that these top student athletes finish the study programme they enrolled into and graduate. We will do everything in our power to meet them half way during their studies, as we are aware of the effort they put into preparations for a competition and the more difficult study conditions they are faced with during that time. The University of Ljubljana is proud of its top athletes.”
Peter Kauzer, World Kayak Champion: “I am very happy that the Rector listened to the problems that top athletes are faced with. This is the first time during my studies that I was invited to have a talk with the highest representative of the University of Ljubljana. The Rector was extremely understanding and promised me support. I would like to graduate as soon as possible, and I believe I will succeed. His encouragement and commitment to solve inconveniences that come with strenuous preparations and competitions in the course of study give me support and impetus to finish my studies and win new sports victories.”
