Slovenian experts from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Ljubljana cooperated with the Sandoz Development Center and together they developed an artificial stomach, a unique device used to analyse complex solid pharmaceutical forms.
Janez Diaci, Head of the Department of Cybernetics, Mechatronics and Production Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana said they had no specific experience with the development of an artificial stomach, however the project presented an interesting challenge combining interdiciplinary areas such as mechanical engineering, electronics, informatics, computer science and mechatronics.
