First cycle university study programme Computer and information science provides future engineers with a sufficient professional basis to be able to keep abreast of technological changes and successfully continue their career at home as well as on an international level. It prepares students for responsible individual professional work in all areas that demand well-educated computer professionals.
The study programme consists of core courses that are the same for all students in the first year of the study. From the second year, the programme allows choosing elective courses based on different interests, motivations and professional specializations. In the second year the students can choose among three possible elective courses, and in the third year students choose one from five different four-course modules that consist of thematic specializations: · Informatics · Software · Computer Systems and Networks · Artificial Intelligence · Media Technologies
The program also allows choosing of softer-knowledge general elective courses. It concludes with submitting a diploma thesis, and it provides a solid base for continuing study on the master level.

The aim of the interdisciplinary programme of Computer Science and Mathematics is to provide training in the theoretical foundations of computer science and the related modern branches of discrete mathematics and computing.
Graduates acquire a wide range of knowledge in the basics of computer and information science, enabling them to understand and later on develop new achievements in this area. Furthermore, this study programme continues to produce highly-qualified experts who are trained to work with new technologies yet to be developed, whilst continuing and expanding research and discoveries in computer science and computer mathematics.
Graduates also have a good grasp of background knowledge and can work in new interdisciplinary fields where they can apply their expertise both in theoretical computer science and the relevant mathematical support fields, such as certain disciplines of biotechnology (e.g. genetics and bioinformatics), biomedical sciences, theoretical chemistry and so on.

The professional bachelor study programme Computer and information science is aimed principally at those with an interest in learning to solve practical problems in computer and information science.
The programme is comparable to international standards, taking into account the rapid development of computer science and new knowledge. In addition to providing fundamental knowledge of subjects necessary for future engineers, the study programmes enable students to tailor their studies according to their own wishes, motivations and strengths, always taking into account the various possibilities of professional specialisation. This is helped by the compulsory nine-week work assignment, which acquaints students with the needs of the commercial and public sectors and enables them once they become employed to be productively involved in the work of their selected company.
The study programme accordingly provides future engineers with a sufficient professional basis, once they have completed this professional course of study, to be able to keep abreast of technical changes and continue their careers successfully at home as well as at an international level.
