The master study programme Instrumental and vocal education is pedagogical and artistic.
The graduates are qualified for work in the teaching profession in their principal field of study in primary and secondary music school. Furthermore, they are qualified for musical performance in their field.
The graduates of the master study programme Music theory education are qualified to independently teach music theoretical courses in primary and secondary music school and secondary education programmes. Furthermore, they are qualified to autonomously plan and conduct programmes of informal education for different target groups and to collaborate with other teachers, parents and technical and administrative staff in a team environment. Required courses enable the students to acquire wide range of knowledge, abilities and skills in the fields of music theory, musical pedagogy, musical composition, musical interpretation and music history. Elective courses offer broader knowledge of the fields of students’ interest and orientation.
The graduates of the programme gain qualifications for critical evaluation of formal and informal educational work and develop communication skills for work with children, adolescents and adults.
The basic aim of the study programme is designed to educate a biologically and pedagogically highly qualified and motivated teacher of biology, who meets the challenges of time in teaching biological content in high schools as well as in secondary technical and vocational schools, and in the higher years of elementary schools. The study program provides education for basic employment opportunitiesin teaching jobs at schools, in the Centres for Curricular and Extracurricular Activities, in museums and in other similar establishments that require a high level of biological knowledge as well as pedagogical skills. The components of biological and pedagogical education enable graduates of the programme to take jobs in publishing companies (publishing textbooks, manuals, popular science magazines and other academic literature), as well as with other providers of teaching and learning material.
The fundamental goals of the study programme are to provide students with a high-quality social science and humanities education with an emphasis on systematic knowledge of the foundations of educational sciences.
Students acquire fundamental knowledge for understanding the upbringing, education and socialization processes that take place in the family, preschool, school and society. Students also gain some practical experience for work at various levels of the educational system, and develop the basic research skills for researching in the education field.
The study programme prepares students for entry into work in various activities of preschools, schools, institutions for adult education and other institutions engaging with education and training. Students learn about the functioning of educational institutions and their management, the role of pedagogical and andragogic counselling, learn about pedagogical treatment of persons with special needs, and about the importance of responsible work with people, the community and information. They chose between two types of study practice.
The study of pedagogy and andragogy at the first level prepares graduates to participate in extracurricular activities of preschools and schools, and in various forms of adult education, educational and cultural activities of local communities, in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

The English Studies Master’s degree equips students to work independently at an advanced level in fields directly connected to English and American studies as well as in the cultural professions, in the humanities and in research more generally. The double-subject English studies master’s degree equally equips students to work in fields and professions connected to the second subject of study. Graduates of the English Studies master’s programme are well-rounded professionals with in-depth and comprehensive knowledge of the English language and English literature as well as of the cultures of different English-speaking communities. Students acquire all the core knowledge and intercultural linguistic competences expected of a highly qualified specialist in the field according to international standards.
The programme also offers a pedagogical or teacher training track aimed at providing high-quality education in the social sciences and humanities, focusing on educational theory and practice and with a specialisation in a subject area, in this case English. It prepares students for creative and demanding teaching work at all levels of English language teaching. It provides them with the highest level of linguistic knowledge for teaching and the ability to adapt proactively and critically to the latest developments in teaching practice, as well as to work in teams and across the curriculum. It also equips them to carry out independent research, especially practical research in teaching, and to build on the knowledge they have acquired in any direction they wish to pursue. The teacher education master’s programme of History (at second cycle) aims to train students for performing specific forms of research, journalistic, archival and museum work in the scope of history-related activities, as well to do the related work in humanities and the social sciences, and, particularly, to train them for teaching history in basic and secondary schools or other educational institutions.
In the framework of the study programme, students deepen their knowledge of history and didactics of history. They build upon the theoretical underpinnings of the historical science and its methodological approaches, gain specialist knowledge of Slovenia’s political, social, economic and cultural history, as well as that of the South-Eastern European space, Europe, and the world. They are trained to plan lessons independently and teach history in basic and secondary schools, as well as to prepare and create didactic materials for teaching history. They get accustomed to self-reflection, self-evaluation and self-assessment of life-long learning and are trained to perform independent pedagogical research.
The fundamental goals of the second-level combined study programme Pedagogy relate to the areas of work performed by the pedagogue as an expert in upbringing and education.
Students upgrade and deepen their knowledge in the field of educational sciences. They acquire knowledge about scientific paradigms and theories, which is important for the understanding, analysis and critical evaluation of educational processes and for understanding the connection between pedagogical phenomena, processes and society. They are trained to co-design system solutions, develop educational programmes and curricular materials in the field of education and training, as well as to assume leadership positions in education and other social activities (e.g. in the field of culture, social work). They are educated for independent (special) pedagogical (school, personal, professional, career) counseling for children/teenagers, parents, professionals in the field of upbringing, education, teaching and learning in educational institutions and in other public and private institutions/organizations. They acquire knowledge and skills for solving practical problems in the field of planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of educational processes in different contexts and at different levels of education. Likewise, they acquire knowledge for the management of voluntary work organizations, societies, projects and programmes in the field of culture, free time, etc.
During their studies, they develop the ability to cooperate, work in groups and work independently in a team. They are distinguished by an understanding of the procedures of argumentation and verification of scientific theories, as well as critical and holistic thinking in an interdisciplinary and ethical manner.
During their studies, they also acquire general teaching competencies in the field of high-quality and effective teaching; assessing knowledge and monitoring student progress; and management and communication with students and parents. In conjunction with another study programme, they expand the range of knowledge and skills, especially for interdisciplinary research and problem solving.

The double-track second-cycle program in Russian Studies trains highly qualified graduates with a wide range of competencies and an in-depth knowledge of Russian culture, who can communicate competently in Russian in written and oral form and are able to establish communication between people of different cultures and languages. The program builds on the first cycle of the Russian Studies program and prepares students for complex, demanding, and creative challenges in the areas of linguistics and text analysis, as well as in cultural and intercultural areas.
Graduates of the Teaching program are qualified to teach, plan, and implement the most demanding activities in a wide range of school and extracurricular activities. They are also employable as Russian instructors at language education institutions.
Graduates of the Translation and Cultural Studies programs are qualified to carry out research and professional work in the fields of public administration, business, culture, and diplomacy, and perform other jobs requiring in-depth knowledge of the Russian language and culture.

The basic goals of the level Master’s program in Slovene Studies are furthering knowledge of different linguistic and literary theories and research methods, applying acquired knowledge, scholarly literature, and contemporary informational and communications sources in scientific analysis and description, as well as critical evaluation of the most complex contemporary or older texts in different genres and sub-genres. Individuals in the Master’s program are able to reference contemporary and past scholarly discoveries about language and literature and logically employ them.
Individuals are able to effectively express such scientific preparedness and related scientific knowledge in oral and written publicistic, popular scientific, or scientific texts and thus successfully shape literary and more broadly cultural events and linguistic policy, and influence a positive attitude on the part of the general public towards language, literature, and culture.
Having completed a Master’s degree, individuals are prepared to work on the planning, execution, and direction of research related to Slovene language, literature, or culture, and to independently, innovatively, and on the own initiative solve problems in these spheres. They are prepared to assume very demanding projects in research work, the publishing industry, print and electronic media, and cultural institutions. The program also prepares them for independent and creative project planning in offices, government, and other institutions that deal with representing and promoting Slovene language and literature in-country or internationally, in the media and in tourism.
The combined Master's degree programme in Sociology focuses on the specialised knowledge needed to work as a teacher. In the two years of study, students of the Teacher education programme of Sociology acquire the knowledge necessary for teaching sociology and/or social sciences in grammar schools and other secondary and primary schools, as well as the knowledge necessary for working with young people and for working in education in general.
Graduates of the programme can work effectively in secondary education, as well as in primary education, in universities for adult education and other forms of lifelong learning, as they acquire comprehensive skills for working with both adolescents and adults. The programme provides knowledge and understanding of social and historical processes in modernity and contemporary times, knowledge of different forms of community and different types of social ties, the functioning of particular social (sub-) systems, especially the school system, and knowledge and recognition of the different mechanisms of social differentiation and inequality, especially in the school social environment, and knowledge of strategies for dealing with social differentiation in school.
In addition, it also provides knowledge and understanding of the needs and interests of the individual, especially adolescents, knowledge of ways of critically identifying media messages, knowledge and mastery of the methodology and didactics of teaching sociology and social sciences, competence in motivating students for sociology, and competence in organising and delivering lessons in sociology and other related subjects using modern teaching methods.
The master study programme Chemistry education is designed to qualify profiles seeking employment as chemistry teachers in high-schools and secondary professional schools.
Students acquire broad knowledge in chemistry, general and special didactics and methodology for conducting pedagogical research. Due to the ever growing changes in the area of natural sciences, where the knowledge doubles after every five years, students become aware of the need for continuous education in their professional field and introducing new didactic approaches.
Arts therapy is a young and useful scientific field that began to develop systematically in the second half of the 20th century. These therapies are a type of assistance provided through a process of experience, expression and creation using artistic means.
Their objective is not a piece of perfect artwork; instead the focus is on the process aimed at personal growth and self-realisation of individuals. Arts therapies are intended for individuals with miscellaneous personal and career problems.
With regard to the artistic means used in the therapy process, the most established therapies are those involving fine arts, drama, music and dance. The Arts Therapy is a master study programme which focuses on developing specific competences and skills and therefore a study which involves interactive practical workshops with theoretical substantiation of the discussed study topics, independent studies and study practice in institutions.
The main aim of the master study programme Inclusive education is to develop new models, work methods as well as sensitivisation of teaching staff for the needs of vulnerable groups of children and youth (especially children and youth with special educational needs, children and youth from other cultures as well as individuals/groups of children and youth from other socially deprived background, who attend regular education programmes or education programmes with adjusted implementation and additional professional support), management of different strategies for adjustment of work with such pupils and development of counselling skills.
The programme covers teaching and research of problems related to exclusionary practice, while inter-disciplinarily linking the findings of domestic and foreign scientific and professional research in the field of inclusive education (systemic, institutional and class factors of inclusion, teaching and learning theory, counselling, organisation, communication, group dynamics and other fields).
The master study programme Preschool education is aimed at creating a critical mass of expert professionals who will work on the development of the profession and on the continuous development of quality early childhood education in Slovenia and its placement in contemporary processes in the world. In the programme the students are qualified to develop a system of early childhood education at the national level - in the direction of development policy, professional standards and ethical standards of the profession.
The students will be qualified for the operation at the community level, in the direction of promoting cooperation between professionals and institutions responsible for the welfare of preschool children.
The master study programme Social pedagogy is based on research in the field of social sciences. As students are trained to carry out various work in various areas of work in the sectors of social education activities, social, health, employment, penology, etc. and in a variety of organizational forms, the programme is based on interdisciplinary research findings of various sciences, e.g. of social pedagogy, sociology, psychology, social work, anthropology, philosophy, etc.
The study programme Special and rehabilitation pedagogy is based on research in the field of social sciences.
As students are trained to carry out various education and rehabilitation programmes for different groups of people with special needs at various ages and in a variety of organizational forms, the programme is based on interdisciplinary research findings of various sciences, e.g. of special and rehabilitation pedagogy, psychology, medicine, pedagogy, sociology, philosophy, etc.
The goal of the master study programme Teacher education orientation Primary teacher education with English is to educate graduates for independent teaching of all school subjects and English as a foreign language, solving educational problems and doing educational research in the first years of primary school.

The second cycle Master's degree programme Teaching - Subject Teaching aims to train graduates to teach two subject areas independently, especially in the second and third educational tiad of primary school, to evaluate their own practice on the basis of modern education theories of individual disciplines, to identify, define and scientifically study challenges of their own practice and to plan strategies for solving these.
Starting from reflection and application of pedagogical methodology, the student is able to evaluate pedagogical effects of contemporary teaching strategies. The student also develops the ability to manage and organise experimental and field work, to work in an interdisciplinary team and to establish a partnership relationship with different stakeholders.
An important goal of the study programme is also to acquire the basic skills for further independent professional and research work related to didactics of individual disciplines.
The second cycle Master's degree programme Teaching - Subject Teaching aims to train graduates to teach two subject areas independently, especially in the second and third educational tiad of primary school, to evaluate their own practice on the basis of modern education theories of individual disciplines, to identify, define and scientifically study challenges of their own practice and to plan strategies for solving these.
Starting from reflection and application of pedagogical methodology, the student is able to evaluate pedagogical effects of contemporary teaching strategies. The student also develops the ability to manage and organise experimental and field work, to work in an interdisciplinary team and to establish a partnership relationship with different stakeholders.

The goal of the master study programme Teacher education orientation Primary teacher education with English is to educate graduates for independent teaching of all school subjects and English as a foreign language, solving educational problems and doing educational research in the first years of primary school.

The core objective of the master study programme Teacher education orientation Art education is to empower students to recognize and use appropriate scientific research methods in the field of art education, and assume responsibility for quality teaching/learning processes that are based on evaluating and reflecting on own professional and teaching work and career development.
The studies focus on developing artistic and pedagogic knowledge connected to knowledge, understanding and usage of different art grammars, understanding the status of images in modern cultures and including multicultural content in the learning processes, reflecting on own art practice, researching art problems on all levels of art education and schooling and connecting the local and foreign art didactics with the achievements of general didactics, development psychology, art history and other areas.
The students will develop managerial and organizational skills, the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, establish partnerships with different groups, reflect on values that apply to activities in education and schooling, and evaluate the schooling practice in art classes and other forms of arts activities.
The fundamental objective of the Physics Education master study program is to prepare students for independent educational and research work as physics teachers at all levels of primary and secondary education including programs with a special emphasis on science courses and work with gifted students as well as programs that prepare for the national exam (matura) in physics.
An additional goal of the program is to prepare students for the jobs that require effective and accurate communication and presentation of science findings and technological innovations to general public.
The ultimate objective of master's study programme of Mechanical Engineering - Research and Development program is to educate graduates of 2nd cycle from area of technics and science to equip them in to experts who will be able effectively and creatively solve complex research and development problems and project application tasks in the area of a wide range of Mechanical engineering and will be capable to link interdisciplinary.
Basic fields of studies, which are provided regulary: Machine Design and Mechanics, Power and Process Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechatronics and Laser Technology. The master's study programme Physical education prepares students for teaching physical education in primary and secondary schools, with emphasis on delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum, fostering knowledge, skills and understanding of the impact of physical activity and sport for active life-style of children and youth.
PE teacher can also deliver extra-curricular sport programmes at clubs or private companies. The study provides professional and academic proficiency with a range of pedagogical, didactical and management skills that guarantee differentiation or individualisation of goals, learning tasks and teaching styles appropriate for various groups of students or individuals, reflective thinking and appropriate decision-making.
The combined master study programme Education in theology can be combined with respectful study programmes of the Faculty of Arts.
The fundamental goal of the programme Education in theology is to provide the student with the basic knowledge in the field of theology and religious studies (humanistic-philosophical, religious, biblical, historical and dogmatic-ecclesiological knowledge); to enable the student to transfer the theoretical knowledge into living practice, i.e. to use the knowledge in solving questions that are raised by religious and theological issues; to form the student’s spiritual-ethical stance; to enable the student for interdisciplinary thinking and acting.
