prof. dr. Branka Kalenić Ramšak.jpgProfessor Branka Kalenić Ramšak received her master's degree in 1989 and her Ph.D. in literary studies in 1996. She is a member of the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. She has taught as a visiting lecturer at various universities, including Aachen, Buenos Aires, Havana, Tokyo, Udine, Zaragoza, Vilnius.

She has published extensively on contemporary Spanish and Hispano-American literature and Spanish Golden Age literature. In her research, she focuses also on literary criticism and the reception of Spanish literature in the context of literary studies in Slovenia.

She has led several projects that have introduced Spanish as a foreign language into the Slovene educational system and participated in two important lexicographic projects, in which the Spanish-Slovene and Slovene-Spanish dictionaries had been created. She has been the president of the organising committee of several international scientific conferences and is the editor-in-chief and co-editor of scientific journals. From 2013 to 2017, she served as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana. In 2011, the Spanish government awarded her the Order of Isabella Catholic for her contribution to cultural connections between Slovenia and Spain.

Since 1 October 2017, she has been the Vice-Rector at the University of Ljubljana for the field of education.
